What it costs
Move the sliders to calculate education loan repayments — it works as an education loan EMI calculator or a plain student loan calculator, whichever your lender calls it. Nothing you type leaves your browser.
Interest is added while you study, then the monthly figure is worked out on that larger balance — which is how these loans actually run. An estimate for planning, not a quote, and not financial advice.
Questions about education loans
How does an education loan EMI calculator work?
It works out the fixed monthly payment that clears your balance over the term. The maths takes the amount, the rate and the number of months, then adds the interest that built up while you were studying — which most education loan interest calculators leave out, and which is why their numbers look too good.

EMI calculator, instalment calculator, loan calculator — what is the difference?
None. EMI stands for equated monthly instalment, the term used across South Asia and much of Africa; elsewhere lenders just say monthly payment. An education loan EMI calculator, a study loan EMI calculator, a student loan calculator and an education loan instalment calculator all run the same arithmetic.
What separates a good one from a bad one is whether it adds the interest that builds while you are still studying. Most do not. Ours does.
Can I get a federal student loan as an international student?
No. US federal student loans need citizenship or eligible non-citizen status, so a federal student loan calculator will not help you — the loans it models are not open to you.
What is open to you: private lenders that assess future earnings, your own government’s overseas study scheme, and university scholarships.
What is the average student loan monthly payment?
There is no useful average, because it depends entirely on the amount and the rate. A worked example: $40,000 at 15% over ten years, with two years of study first, comes to about $839 a month and roughly $100,000 repaid in total.
Change the sliders to your own numbers rather than trusting any average.
