The Roadmap to Italy

Italy has a unique "Pre-Enrollment" step via Universitaly that separates it from other EU processes. Follow this sequence exactly.

01

Pre-Enrollment

Universitaly.it

Even with an offer letter, you must register on the Universitaly portal. Your university validates this, which then alerts the Italian Embassy in your country.

Mandatory Digital Step
02

DOV or CIMEA

Degree Check

You need a "Declaration of Value" (DOV) from the embassy OR a CIMEA Statement of Comparability. This proves your foreign degree allows you to study at the next level.

Proves Degree Validity
03

Visa Appointment

Embassy/VFS

Apply for the "Studio" visa. You must show proof of accommodation (at least 30 days) and financial means (~€6,500).

€6,000+ Bank Balance
04

Permesso (The 8-Day Rule)

Critical In-Country

Upon arrival in Italy, you have strictly 8 Days to apply for your Residence Permit (Permesso di Soggiorno) at a Post Office (Poste Italiane) via the "Yellow Kit."

"Kit Giallo" Required
