Payment & Funds
You must pay your first tuition installment. Crucially, you must transfer 10,314 SEK/mo (for the full permit duration) into your own bank account. The Migration Agency checks this strictly.
Residence Permit (Studies)
Apply online via the Swedish Migration Agency. You will be asked to show your passport at an embassy (or via the new digital app in some regions).
Personnummer
Upon arrival, if your program is 12+ months, apply for a Personal Identity Number at Skatteverket. This is essential for gym memberships, banking, and healthcare.
After Graduation
You can extend your permit for 12 Months to look for work. Once employed, you switch to a Work Permit. 4 years of work (or doctoral studies) can lead to Permanent Residency.
